Daniel Walsh qualified as a doctor from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and his basic surgical training took place in Dublin and London. Thereafter his advanced Neurosurgical training was completed at the Institute for Neurological Sciences in Glasgow. He underwent specialist Fellowship training in Neurovascular Surgery with Professor Michael Morgan in Sydney, Australia there developing an enduring interest in the management of vascular malformations. Subsequently appointed to a consultant position at King’s College Hospital in London he was also appointed visiting clinical senior lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry King’s College London and honorary consultant neurosurgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital supporting the Von Hippel Linda and complex Neurofibromatosis service there.

Dr Walsh is co-director of the Royal College of Surgeons Neurovascular Fellowship at King’s College Hospital and is Neurosurgical Training Program Director for the South Thames Region. Playing an active role in the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies and Society of British Neurological Surgeons he is a reviewer for several academic journals. He serves on the Speciality Advisory Committee to the Royal Colleges of Surgeons. In February of 2017 he was elected to the Chair of the British Neurovascular Group
